Diabetes/pre diabetes is a condition that affects millions of Americans. In fact, it’s one of the most common medical conditions today, costing about $174 billion a year in the US alone (this statistic comes from the book.) What’s worse is that it is a disease that is both deadly and preventable. It is a problem that often those who have it don’t know they are sick. The result can often be premature death.

Even if you don’t think you’re at risk, you should still test yourself to see if you have it because diabetes is so common now. This book will give you all the information you need, as well as show you how to treat or improve your condition.

“How to Lower Blood Sugar” will tell you everything you need to know about diabetes and pre diabetes. It starts by explaining what diabetes is, what the symptoms are, and what you need to know about this condition.

It doesn’t stop there though. It shows you how to take an active role in your condition, as well as how you can lessen the symptoms. If you don’t have it, then you’ll learn how to prevent it. Whether it’s information about treatment, condition, or prevention, you’ll have all the information at your fingertips.

Since diabetes is so prevalent, it’s something we should all be concerned with. What surprised me though is just how common it is.

The author states that diabetes is actually the leading cause of death in America today. (It may be possible that this has changed from heart disease as heart disease has been the leading cause of death for years. Just something you should be familiar with. One condition may result in the other.)

Other than that, I thought the information was solid. The author has definitely done her homework. She doesn’t stop at just explaining the condition in detail, she gives you options on how to take control of your illness, or if you don’t have it, how to avoid it altogether. This information is some of the best I’ve seen in alternative medicine. With the cost of healthcare skyrocketing, effective alternatives are some thing we all want to know about.

One more thing I liked about this book is that the author also includes a cheat sheet that offers 30 different ways to lower your blood sugar, as well as additional resources if you need further information. I think you’ll find everything you need in this book though, especially if you want information on how to control or improve your condition with more than just diet. The section on vitamins and minerals will also be helpful to you.

From start to finish this is a well written book on the topic that contains plenty of good information to help you control or even prevent diabetes. It is a complete resource, a solid reference that contains the best information on getting the right treatment for your diabetes, and it will save you a ton of money in doctor’s bills.

I would highly recommend this book for anyone who suffers from diabetes, as well as anyone who is concerned about diabetes. It could save your life, your wallet, and even improve your health.

Honestly, I really don’t want to sound like some drooling idiot here, but I know firsthand the damage doctors can do to you with medications. In fact, the medicines are often worse than the disease. If you feel you need a doctor, then get one, but I would honestly recommend you try this information first. In my case, alternative medicine saved my life and got me off all those nasty drugs the doctors were pumping me with. Like I said, read the book. It is an excellent addition to the alternative medicine field. I will be recommending this book to everyone I know who has diabetes.

There is something stuffy, uptight, and false about "cool" that I feel hasn't been properly exposed in popular culture. I have often been frustrated in trying to explain this idea/insight to people who just take it at face value. </p><p>I was excited to see how this theme would be explored in 'Easy Listening'. Unfortunately, I found myself hit over the head with it. I realize it is dangerous to overestimate the intelligence of your audience, but I thought the theme was made too obvious by the proselytizing of the heroine. I think it could have been more powerfully conveyed if it was somehow communicated more with more subtlety... if I felt as though I was led to this point of view by the unfolding of the events themselves, rather than merely having it delivered speech-style. Nonetheless, I give the film points for tackling the issue and having its heart in the right place.</p><p>I was very impressed with the costumes and sets, and just the general visual appeal and flow of the film. I was also surprised by how appealing the music was. I thought the lead actor was great, but the lead actress was a bit too campy... or maybe "wooden" is the right word. I'm not sure if this was an acting issue or a writing issue. I guess she seemed a bit more like a 'concept delivery vehicle' than a credible person. </p><p>The one element that I thought was truly fantastic was the portrayal of the horrible ex-wife. My only real criticism is that the writing was too overtly concept-driven. I prefer stories to be a little messier and more character-driven, leaving me with more room to maneuver. As a dietitian I love to review books about diet programs. This book will help you understand “pre-diabetes” and give you a way to reverse it. Most doctor’s advise at this point to is to eat less and exercise more. Ms. Scalpi’s book breaks it down to small easy steps. Very positive outlook on the whole process. I wish I would have done it earlier, as the projector costs roughly the same as the DLP did for a much better viewing experience. <br/><br/>I have this in a light-controlled basement, ceiling-mounted, projecting onto a 110" Elite Screens "CineWhite" screen [...] <br/>I've had this projector long enough (almost a year) to feel fairly confident as to it's reliability and bulb life at this point. So far I have not had a bulb go out, but I did swap the original out w/ about 1300hrs on it to see if I could see a brightness difference w/ a new bulb. I do, but it's not incredibly obvious unless you're looking for it. I would plan on changing bulbs out every 1500-2000hrs or so, before it becomes noticeable in day to day movie/tv watching. If you get more, consider it a bonus! For me, this works out to be roughly one bulb per year which is about what I expected. If I ever need to, I can stretch this out of course. <br/><br/>Couple this projector, a nice screen, and a full blown sound system - you will never want to go to the cinema again. I can't imagine going back to smaller flat-panel screens for the main movie room, as this simply takes the experience to the next level. <br/><br/>Pros: <br/>* Relatively inexpensive for the picture quality <br/>* Pretty much a movie theater at home! <br/>* Reliable bulb performance <br/>* Great picture quality for the price. Amazing really <br/>* Little to no fan noise <br/>* Fairly well calibrated out of box <br/><br/>Cons: <br/>* Perhaps not just this projector, but I found lining this up w/ the ceiling mount I bought was a real pain in the butt. This is a large/heavy projector for home use, so keep that in mind. This is my first projector I’ve owned (having been jealous of friends who owned projectors over the years), upgrading from a 61″ DLP. I wish I would have done it earlier, as the projector costs roughly the same as the DLP did for a much better viewing experience.

I have this in a light-controlled basement, ceiling-mounted, projecting onto a 110″ Elite Screens “CineWhite” screen [...]
I’ve had this projector long enough (almost a year) to feel fairly confident as to it’s reliability and bulb life at this point. So far I have not had a bulb go out, but I did swap the original out w/ about 1300hrs on it to see if I could see a brightness difference w/ a new bulb. I do, but it’s not incredibly obvious unless you’re looking for it. I would plan on changing bulbs out every 1500-2000hrs or so, before it becomes noticeable in day to day movie/tv watching. If you get more, consider it a bonus! For me, this works out to be roughly one bulb per year which is about what I expected. If I ever need to, I can stretch this out of course.

Couple this projector, a nice screen, and a full blown sound system – you will never want to go to the cinema again. I can’t imagine going back to smaller flat-panel screens for the main movie room, as this simply takes the experience to the next level.

Pros:
* Relatively inexpensive for the picture quality
* Pretty much a movie theater at home!
* Reliable bulb performance
* Great picture quality for the price. Amazing really
* Little to no fan noise
* Fairly well calibrated out of box

Cons:
* Perhaps not just this projector, but I found lining this up w/ the ceiling mount I bought was a real pain in the butt. This is a large/heavy projector for home use, so keep that in mind. Spend more on your mount if you care about perfect alignment!

Researched the Epson 8700 and several others for a month or so, then pulled the trigger and got the Epson, a $100 rebate and a second bulb - all for $1999, delivered. Great warranty too.<br/><br/>I was and still am amazed by this machine! Easy to set up in my already built home theater - I just put it on the shelf right where the old Mitsubuishi was at 13 feet out, dialed it in as to zoom and focus on my 110" screen, plugged in the sound and away we went. The difference in brightness and sharpness was huge. Absolutely brought tears to my eyes. Of course, the tweaking is a never-ending (and plenty fun) part of buying a new toy, so yes, the Epson gets the knobs turned a bit from time to time.<br/><br/>I have a 6-month-old Panasonic Blu-ray player feeding HDMI-1 and a venerable Toshiba HD-DVD player feeding the other source. Call me strange, but I like the way the Toshiba plays dvd's better than the job the Panasonic Blu-ray does with them. The picture just looks...finer, somehow. As a condo dweller, my Sony sound system is very small and basic so as not to startle the neighbors, but it works fine for me. Although my theater is totally light-tight with black/dark red walls/floor/ceiling, I prefer the "Living Room" brightness setting which is about all the brightness you'll need on a 110" very light gray screen. I'm no expert as to all the other arcane settings and measurements you read about in these reviews - all I know is the picture is fantastic on just about anything you feed it from a Blu-ray, and many dvd's. Excellent projector, a great value!, October 12, 2011

Early this year the old Mitsubishi was showing its age and a new bulb (and then another new bulb) didn’t help. Researched the Epson 8700 and several others for a month or so, then pulled the trigger and got the Epson, a $100 rebate and a second bulb – all for $1999, delivered. Great warranty too.

I was and still am amazed by this machine! Easy to set up in my already built home theater – I just put it on the shelf right where the old Mitsubuishi was at 13 feet out, dialed it in as to zoom and focus on my 110″ screen, plugged in the sound and away we went. The difference in brightness and sharpness was huge. Absolutely brought tears to my eyes. Of course, the tweaking is a never-ending (and plenty fun) part of buying a new toy, so yes, the Epson gets the knobs turned a bit from time to time.

I have a 6-month-old Panasonic Blu-ray player feeding HDMI-1 and a venerable Toshiba HD-DVD player feeding the other source. Call me strange, but I like the way the Toshiba plays dvd’s better than the job the Panasonic Blu-ray does with them. The picture just looks…finer, somehow. As a condo dweller, my Sony sound system is very small and basic so as not to startle the neighbors, but it works fine for me. Although my theater is totally light-tight with black/dark red walls/floor/ceiling, I prefer the “Living Room” brightness setting which is about all the brightness you’ll need on a 110″ very light gray screen. I’m no expert as to all the other arcane settings and measurements you read about in these reviews – all I know is the picture is fantastic on just about anything you feed it from a Blu-ray, and many dvd’s. We decided to go the cheap route and replace it with the Optoma HD20 and I was disappointed. The picture quality was just not as sharp as we were used to so we returned. I read good reviews about the Epson 8700 but was skeptical because I had also heard great things about the Optoma HD20. <br/><br/>However, I was shocked at how much better the picture was. Images in the background were so much sharper than either of the Optoma projectors. Right out of the box the picture was great without the need to tweak it very much. It also runs noticeably quieter than the Optomas. One nice feature is it has an automatic shutoff if there is no input. We have kids and sometimes they are careless about turning everything off and those lamps go quickly if you leave it on all night! <br/><br/>It is quite a bit larger then the Optomas which wasn't a problem for us but could be if you have limited space. Really the only negative so far. We had an Optoma HD80 that i thought was great until it started having shadowing problems. We decided to go the cheap route and replace it with the Optoma HD20 and I was disappointed. The picture quality was just not as sharp as we were used to so we returned. I read good reviews about the Epson 8700 but was skeptical because I had also heard great things about the Optoma HD20.

However, I was shocked at how much better the picture was. Images in the background were so much sharper than either of the Optoma projectors. Right out of the box the picture was great without the need to tweak it very much. It also runs noticeably quieter than the Optomas. One nice feature is it has an automatic shutoff if there is no input. We have kids and sometimes they are careless about turning everything off and those lamps go quickly if you leave it on all night!

It is quite a bit larger then the Optomas which wasn’t a problem for us but could be if you have limited space. Really the only negative so far. So, if you are looking for a movie theater quality picture, then you really need to avoid the temptation of the under $2,000 projector and consider the 8700.
